Management: METALLICA Will Not Be Contributing To 'Batman Begins' Soundtrack
February 2, 2005A spokesperson at METALLICA's management company, Q Prime, has reportedly rejected an Internet report that METALLICA will appear on the soundtrack of the upcoming movie, "Batman Begins". The soundtrack is tentatively due to arrive in late May or early June. Other artists that were rumored to contribute new material to the soundtrack are GREEN DAY, VELVET REVOLVER, AUDIOSLAVE, CHEVELLE, PEARL JAM, FOO FIGHTERS, THE CURE and ex-JANE'S ADDICTION guitarist Dave Navarro. A representative for GREEN DAY has since said reports of the trio's involvement in the project are "not true." "Batman Begins", which stars Christian Bale as the Caped Crusader in his early years, opens in theatres on June 17.
METALLICA has only contributed a new song to a film soundtrack once before, when they recorded "I Disappear" for 2000's "Mission: Impossible 2".
